Combined Community Action

We have succeeded in beating the latest attempt to develop on St Edmundsbury/Woodville.

This is fantastic news but it doesn't mean that we have saved St Eds, we have merely won the latest round of the ongoing struggle. St Eds will not be safe until it has proper protection. Whilst we can congratulate ourselves on the job so far this is not the time to relax. We need to press the advantage of the great support that we have from our Councillors and look for an extension of the Special Area Amenity Order and the eventual creation of a Liffey Valley Park.
We have to make sure that this land can never be rezoned - through either the back door or the front one.

A Big Thank You to Everyone

Latest proposal on developing St Eds is abondoned.

The Affordable Homes Partnership (AHP) have
Written to the County Manager to inform him that Ballymore Homes had decided to withdraw their proposal.
The letter states that the reasons for the withdrawal are:
"the outcome of the Strategic Environmental Assessment of the site and the absence of the support of a significant number of the elected members of the Council."

All we can say is thank you and well done to everyone who has helped the campaign to save the valley.
Our special thanks go to the councillors who expressed support for our cause.:
Green Party (Paul Gogarty TD and Cllr Billy Gogarty), Cllr Guss O'Connell, Cllr Derek Keating, Eamon Tuffy, Fine Gael, Labour, Sinn Fein (including Gerry Adams who personally supported us), PDs, Cllr Mick Murphy.
But this is a victory because everyone took part.

But remember, we still need permanent protection for the Liffey Valley

The Affordable Homes Partnership

The Affordable Homes Partnership is the government body that is proposing the rezoning. We want changes made to this body, to guarantee an increase in the number of affordable homes being provided and to protect national assets from back-door rezoning. More...

Letter to the Manager of South Dublin County Council

We have written to the Manager to ask him to withdraw the proposal and also to clarify the process for binging this proposal to the Council.
